Aleph is a visualizer system that I built after watching [Kindohm do visuals by dumping text into a terminal at Algorithmic Art Assembly](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wyjKbzWDws). It is written in Javascript. I have a long history of messing around in the terminal and engaging with ASCII art through video game FAQs, software cracks and text games. As a result, I was excited to try my hand at creating visuals that reflected how the terminal looked. I've named this visualizer system Aleph, after the Hebrew letter aleph. In Jewish mythology, aleph is the letter that is carved into the heads of golems in order to give them life. As programmers, we carve code into silicon to give them life and these visuals are representations of that life, both in the process and in appearance. The code can be found on [github](https://github.com/fizzy123/aleph) and demoed [here](https://fizzy123.github.io/aleph/) by pressing 0-9 keys on the keyboard. ## Appearances ![](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TSHf89G4TY) I was invited to perform visuals for the Chiprave at Magfest 2024 and I had the privilege of performing with these visuals for the amazing [Janus Rose](https://www.instagram.com/janus.rose/). ![](https://www.youtube.com/embed/igNcu30CGJ4?si=aGKul-dtFj6oYz4B) I've also performed visuals for The Living Tombstone at Magwest 2024. I've performed visuals with this project at DNA Lounge with 8BitSF, at Planetarium Co-op in Oakland with AV Club SF. This project was set up as an interactive exhibit at Gray Area in SF.
